Author: Since the 1980s grills have been a part of hip hop culture as they were worn by many rappers at the time, but it was much later that they became very popular, in the mid 2000s especially after the release of the hit song grills by Paul Wall and Nelly. Grills are usually made of metal such as gold, silver or platinum and usually precious stones such as diamonds may be set into them. Fake grills may be made from cheaper materials, and would thus be cheaper. They are a great option especially if you intend to use them for such things as Halloween pimp gear and not hip hop concerts or parties where wearing something that is not genuine could be a source of ridicule.
The term ‘Fake grills’ does not mean that the grills are totally bad, but rather, that the grills have been made from other materials other than the platinum or the gold usually used. One such alternative is stainless steel, which is long lasting, does not rust and also produces a level of luster. It would also be prudent to leave out the ice, because cost issues are what drove you to look for the Fake grills in the first place. In the case of grills it would be difficult to reduce the ice required as compared to items such as watches in which even a single stone could pull it off, but not the same would be achieved with grills.
Halloween pimp gear usually aims at taking a poke at the pimps so much revered in the hip hop culture and there would be no need to go for the real deal in terms of grills. With this one a dental mold would not even be needed to make them as is the case with the expensive custom grills. Dental putty would be used to at least give a guideline as to the making of the grills. These are however less comfortable than the ones that are professionally made, but the Halloween pimp gear is only worn for a few hours in a whole year and so this is not much of a problem.
Grills have however been said to have grave effects especially if worn for a long time. Fake grills should thus not be worn regularly as they do not fit properly. Periodic wearing is also aimed at reducing the buildup of bacteria as this could lead to gum disease or even loss of bone.
