Christmas is coming…as in, it’s almost here! Undoubtedly you have a few items left on your to-buy list. My solution for last minute gifts is pretty simple: gift cards. I know gift cards seem impersonal and it’s more fun to find that perfect gift yourself. You envision the recipient’s grateful expression as they tell you they can’t believe you knew exactly what to buy them (and ideally this happens in a crowded room so everyone can see just how awesome you are). But the truth about gift cards is, they are [how shall I put it?] necessary.

Just a quick dispatch about Donna Karan on a busy Monday afternoon of back-to-back shows. Ms. Karan held her show in a gallery in far-off Chelsea, where Wyclef Jean showed up in a cute straw ball cap and rhinestone studded jeans. Ms. Karan said she has been traveling to Haiti over the last year and plans to have a party tonight celebrating a group of Haitian artists.

Many people look at fashion and say that magazines and celebrities start trends in the fashion industry. That may be true but did you know that you can set your own fashion trend. If people like it well enough and see it often enough they may start copying it for a look for them selves thus creating a fashion trend. A fashion trend is copying the look of some one else and more and more people copying the same look so they can look like that person. In writing copying is not okay, but in the fashion industry it is considered to be a good thing because the more people you have that want to look like you the more people will be your line of designs or your line of clothing if you have it placed in a retail store.
